Gewurztraminer
DESCRIPTION
Gewurztraminer, as the name suggests, originates in Tramin (Italy) and has found one of its very best homes in Aragon. Fine examples can be found across the region from north to south, producing fragrant wines that will resonate afterwards on the nose. Among the many peculiarities of the variety, its pulp (and skin) is slightly pink, something that occurs in very few varieties around the globe. Its elongated clusters lead to genuinely fragrant wines, with typical notes of lychee and rose water, a bouquet reminiscent of a perfume. On the palate they are very pleasant wines, at once richly fruity and refreshing with subtle sweet nuances that make them perfect in combination with Asian food or, in general, spicy and lightly spiced dishes. The pronunciation may be the only handicap, but if in doubt try this literal phonetic transcription of the German: “Gevurts-trameener”.
