Bodega San Valero focuses on native varieties (Garnacha and Cariñena), accounting for 70% of the cultivation. A long tradition in the region has its advantages: about 20% of our Garnacha is classified as "old vines", ranging from 30 to 100 years old, and located at extreme altitudes and on very rocky soils.
The winery has been a benchmark in the area since 1944. It is the oldest of its kind in Cariñena, meaning some of the most outstanding vines in the area have been cultivated for over 75 years.
The winery manages 500 winegrowers who together cultivate over 4,000 hectares of vineyard as active members of the cooperative. 90% of the vineyards are in the environs of the winery facility, close to the town of Cariñena. The winery is considered one of the most advanced and sustainable in Cariñena, combining passion and a respect for tradition with the most modern winemaking techniques in Europe.
Bodega San Valero represents about 27% of the entire PDO Cariñena. 100% of the production comes from the property. Its more than 18,000 French and American oak barrels make it the largest wine plant in Aragon. SEE ALL WINERIES
