White Garnacha
DESCRIPTION
White Garnacha is on the rise! Its vines have recovered and gradually increased in number everywhere and there are numerous examples of very old vineyards throughout the region. Given its versatility, great wines are being made as single varietals and in blends with Macabeo, among others. The grape is actually a mutation of the red garnacha and Aragon is at the heart of its area of influence, centred on the Ribera del Ebro, across Navarra, La Rioja and Catalonia among other regions. Aragon is home to some of the key exponents found among all the Aragonese designations. The resulting wines are always aromatic with medium acidity and a predominance of notes of seed and stone fruit, being succulent and lengthy through the mouth. Some growers work this variety with its lees and even with wood to offer the most complex and long-lasting version of the variety.
