Garnacha
DESCRIPTION
Aragon is the heartland of Garnacha. This is almost certainly the variety of grape that offers the most identity to Aragonese wine. Over 15,000 hectares of Garnacha vineyards are present across the wine-growing regions of Aragon, more than 25% of the total in Spain. This highly versatile variety can be used to produce fragrant, fruity reds, as well as aromatic rosés, sweet wines or even sparkling wines. The Garnacha grape is perfectly in tune with the Aragonese climate, adapted as it is to the limited water available here. The plants are robust, with medium to large clusters and small, tightly-bunched fruits. It produces intensely fruity, aromatic wines, which are medium to low in acid content. The palette is very aromatic, ranging from forest fruits (especially red fruits) to a hint of the mountains from aromatic herbs. With a pleasant tannin and fluid structure, Garnacha is probably one of the most versatile varieties in Spain.
