2023
DESCRIPTION
HARVEST
The agricultural year in Somontano has been marked by high temperatures and consecutive heat waves. Early on, high temperatures were recorded, with May standing out as the hottest May on record. Rainfall was 412 mm compared to the average of 513 mm in Somontano, which is 20% less.
VINEYARD CHARACTERISTICS
The vineyards in the Secastilla Valley are located in the northeastern end of Somontano and have a special "Mediterranean microclimate" ideal for growing olives, vines, and almond trees. On stony slopes located above 700 meters above sea level, we have recovered very old vineyards of Garnacha Tinta and Garnacha Blanca, the traditional varieties of the Secastilla Valley. The relative altitude and special orientation make it an area with many hours of sunshine, which favors the ripening of the fruit. This entire area is rainfed, and the soils are sandy-loam with a lot of stoniness.
ELABORATION
The Garnacha Blanca was harvested during the third week of September manually in small boxes of about 12 kg. The destemming and crushing of the clusters were carried out at the vineyard, and then they were placed in the maceration tank and transported to the winery. Once there, the first-quality free-run juice was extracted, and after fermentation, it was transferred to oak barrels, where it remained for 4 months with frequent battonages. Subsequently, the wine was filtered and bottled in July 2023 to continue its aging process in the bottle.
Production: 38.000
TASTING NOTES
La Miranda de Secastilla Garnacha Blanca shows a pale color, with low intensity, typical of this variety, with greenish hues and a lot of brightness. Its aromas compose an elegant and subtle range, inviting us to discover them, always related to white fruits and sweet spices. Its attack on the palate is smooth, giving way to a creamy, round, long wine with a pleasant aftertaste.
