Moristel

DESCRIPTION

The Moristel grape is another of the native varieties of Aragonese Somontano, known elsewhere as “Juan Ibañez” or “Miguel de Arcos”. This variety produces little, but is highly resistant to disease and difficult climatic conditions. Budding and ripening very late, this variety is traditionally almost always the last to enter the winery. The Moristel grape produces light but very aromatic wines chock-full of floral notes and wild berries. Traditionally it has been used in blends seeking greater structure and colour with varieties such as Parraleta, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon. Elegant, balanced single varietal wines are obtained nowadays that are supremely fluid and rich in fruit. This is through on-vine ripening resulting from increases in average temperatures and improvements in vineyard management.
